Yeah lots of young players coming though and doing well, some are finding it difficult to sustain performance Lees looked like he could have gone the same way as Root but had a slump last year and has done OK this year. Has been very good at getting to 15+ but not really going on

I like Vince, my mate taught him at Warminster School, but not sure he'll be there for the long run

Hameed/Abell/Hain/Burnham/Root/Livingstone as a top order doesn't look bad, albeit lacking anything all-rounder-ish.
by StaggerBreaths6/29/2016 3:33:29 PM
Again, Stokes is the same age as Root...

there's the young Surrey chap who has the youngest double who seems to be bowling more than batting now

Vince will be in and out of the side I think. Making people ooh and aah, then getting dropped again. Like Ian Bell for most of his career (i.e. not 2011 or early 2013).

All-rounders don't last as long Andrei. Of course this assumes that Root's back holds up.

Nasser Hussein was banging on about a technical problem that Dan Lawrence apparently has where his bottom hand comes in too much and he essentially hoiks everything to leg

Buttler is only 25, Bairstow 26
by nickcricket6/29/2016 3:35:19 PM
Anyway we're getting ahead of ourselves, with a few exceptions the current team is still young.
by StaggerBreaths6/29/2016 3:36:18 PM
If looking for all rounders, Borthwick is only 26 and a leggie
by Andrei Rhodes6/29/2016 3:36:18 PM
Big exception is Jimmy, but England is not exactly underpossessed of seamers. Of course none have Jimmy's skill yet, most never will.

If Hales's back injury is bad, who will replace him in the Test series?

Vince has only have 4 Test innings so probably too early to judge, does look like the drive will be his strength and his weakness. If he can't get the runs to sustain his place then at least he is young enough to go away and think about changes
by nickcricket6/29/2016 3:38:10 PM
so, 42 overs per side. assume Duckworth will bump England's required score up to boot when (if) they get to bat
