Vithushan Ehantharajah at Leicestershire 317-5 v Sri Lanka 367
Morning all. First time in three that we've started the day with glorious sunshine. Bit of news already: Dinesh Chandimal, who couldn't take to the field yesterday because of a throat infection, led the team out. He's not keeping – Niroshan Dickwella continues with the gloves after a solid showing yesterday. He certainly out-kept the home gloveman Ned Eckersley
Ford said that a fit Chandimal would have shared the keeping duties yesterday. It seems unlikely that the number four batsman will get a go considering Leicestershire intend to declare at some point this morning/early afternoon. The Leicestershire captain for this match, Angus Robson, was pretty chuffed with his team's performance, not least because nine changes had been made from the previous Championship match. You can definitely sense an air of optimism around the ground that has been missing for a few years. And, from what I've seen, it's justified.
In the over just gone, Chandimal, standing at second slip, dropped Rob Taylor (9*). It was a difficult chance high to his left, but Chandimal got a good jump in to get to the ball. For a moment, it looked like he had pulled off a blinding catch, but the ball hit the ground just before he did. Dushmantha Chameera, currently wicketless, was the bowler.
