Tim Wigmore at Lancashire (44-3) v Surrey
Watching Mark Footitt this morning has been utterly compelling. There have been balls sprayed around - including a legside wide and four byes that went past Ben Foakes - but some beauties in between, including a jaffer to greet Liam Livingstone, and an inswinger to dismiss Alex Davies now, playing across the line.

Good morning from The Oval where I’m sitting in an unused commentary box on the third floor - a fantastic view for some absorbing morning cricket, made all the better by hearing the learned BBC commentary in the next box, including birthday boy Dan Norcross, no doubt still recovering from oh-so-nearly taking in all six county grounds on the opening day of the season last week. Anyway, it’s been a fine start for Surrey; their pace trio - no Jade Dernbach this week - have been consistently probing, and they just have the wicket of Luke Procter, poking Tom Curran to second slip, to celebrate, after Haseeb Hameed fell, most uncharacteristically, slashing his second ball, off Tom’s younger brother.
