So is Leaning and he will be lining up for Yorkshire
by nickcricket4/7/2017 9:01:25 AM
For all Alsop's potential, he's hardly scored a bucket load of runs.
by Matt Warwick4/7/2017 9:01:54 AM
I understand how England want to protect the three format players but there is a double standard that if they had got IPL deals they would be playing now. Not even considering buying Tickets for the WI ODI series until I see who is playing because its going to be a ghost town
by nickcricket4/7/2017 9:03:50 AM
I agree that Bairstow should be playing, even if I am quite glad he's not.
by Matt Warwick4/7/2017 9:05:27 AM

by Matt Warwick4/7/2017 9:05:56 AM
Well Yorks bowling attack will be lol not sure. No plunket, Sidebottom,Brooks,Rashid or Willey. Seems Bressie Lad from both ends!
by Lawrence Payne4/7/2017 9:06:15 AM
Yorks have named a 13 man squad and from that this is how I think they will line up Lyth, Lees, Handscomb, Ballance, Leaning, Bresnan, Hodd, Rafiq, Patterson, Shaw, Coad
by nickcricket4/7/2017 9:07:04 AM
@nickcricket I don't like the system but don't blame Hampshire for playing it. Besides in Alsop, Crane, Vince, Dawson, Wheal and McManus we'll be giving young British (English) hopefuls more of a go than many counties
by GeorgePotter194/7/2017 9:08:11 AM
Lyth, Lees, Handscomb, Ballance is a strong top four. Can't quite say the same for the bowling
by Matt Warwick4/7/2017 9:08:42 AM
It isn't just Hampshire Lancashire can find no place for Rob Jones who scored that Ton against Middlesex when the rest had a brain fade and nearly got them relegated.
by nickcricket4/7/2017 9:08:55 AM
GeorgePotter19 - They have dropped Alsop
by nickcricket4/7/2017 9:09:07 AM
@nickcricket because he's in terrible nick. If he was scoring runs he'd be playing instead of Adams
by GeorgePotter194/7/2017 9:09:55 AM
What kind of a message does the ECB decisions regarding resting of players send to the counties? Basically, don't bother investing in young talent because if they're really good most of the time they won't play. Instead spend the money on Kolpak signings.
by Yorkshire Fan4/7/2017 9:10:31 AM
Let's all just agree that Somerset are the best - squad to face the Uni features one ex-England player, six England Lions and two England U19 players
by NemoUKS4/7/2017 9:10:40 AM
Patterson one of the most underrated bowlers on the county scene - but admittedly Shaw and Coad are a bit raw.
by PhilipGoose4/7/2017 9:10:40 AM
What's everyone fantasy selections strategy? Choosing a few more internationals now transfers are allowed or sticking with county pros?
by NemoUKS4/7/2017 9:11:24 AM
Didn't we use to start at 10.30 in April?
by Lawrence Payne4/7/2017 9:11:39 AM
tired to join the fantasy league but it says it was full?
by nickcricket4/7/2017 9:12:48 AM
@NemoUKS your fantasy league is full!
by Alex Thomas4/7/2017 9:13:22 AM
My strategy is bowler heavy in general, served me well last year (except Fidel). It's a bit different this year though since you seem to play fixtures and when teams don't play it could really nobble you. Just had to change my whole team around when I noticed that
by Richard Baker4/7/2017 9:13:39 AM
The Bairstow resting decision is terrible. Much less justifiable than the one made for the championship decider last year. He's hardly played since January, is on the fringes of the one-day squad and the next test isn't until July! Plus "all format" players are being allowed to play IPL, apparently they can cope without rest. Talk about devaluing your own competitions!
by Yorkshire Fan4/7/2017 9:13:50 AM
@nickcricket Shall we make another fantasy league?
by Alex Thomas4/7/2017 9:14:39 AM
Couple of Internationals in, but not too many so I don't screw myself over later in the season. Matt Fisher at 24k is interesting if he can stay fit
by acarey874/7/2017 9:14:46 AM
Yeah we need a Division Two, I'll set one up one moment.
by NemoUKS4/7/2017 9:15:03 AM
Yorkshire should just play him, sick to death of crass England decisions
by Lawrence Payne4/7/2017 9:16:02 AM
Okay new league join code is - FSKSYLKC - it tops out at 16 teams per league because it's a matchup based league. There's overall standings too though so we'll still be able to see whose doing best overall. cricketxi.com
by NemoUKS4/7/2017 9:16:05 AM
England pay Bairstow now, he's on a full contract. They are his employers. Rashid is probably more questionable I'd have thought as he's on an incremental.
by NemoUKS4/7/2017 9:16:46 AM
Tough start for Yorkshire with so many players injured / unavailable. I could see Hampshire taking a win here but what a great opportunity for Coad and Shaw.
by Robert Stow4/7/2017 9:16:56 AM
Is Steven Davies keeping for Somerset in the CC?
by nickcricket4/7/2017 9:18:06 AM
@NemoUKS Rashid is on a one day central contract I think, didn't they split it into test central contracts and one day central contracts?
by Robert Stow4/7/2017 9:18:46 AM
Yorks fans-thoughts on Ballance as captain? Strikes me as very different character to Gale
by GeorgePotter194/7/2017 9:19:27 AM
Nemo - England obviously have the right to withdraw players but it's a crazy decision which just shows complete contempt for the competition which helps produce England players. It also seems mad in Bairstow's case. He's young and fit and wants to play. How is he going to keep improving his keeping abilities if he is not playing?
by Yorkshire Fan4/7/2017 9:20:43 AM
Only way he gets in side!
by Lawrence Payne4/7/2017 9:20:50 AM
Huzzah real sport has returned to the world and with it sanity and comfort. Ridiculously excited for this season. @nickcricket I believe that is the intention
by Mark Ofield4/7/2017 9:21:07 AM
Steven Davies will be keeping yes. Got a small knock so not playing against the Uni but kept in all our other pre-season games
by NemoUKS4/7/2017 9:21:22 AM
@GeorgePotter19 I think he's a good appointment. Will be a very different style to Gale but think he'll be effective. He seems to have a lot of respect amongst the squad.
by Robert Stow4/7/2017 9:21:45 AM
Hes not been picked for his batting , bowling or fielding skills on last years form @George
by Lawrence Payne4/7/2017 9:22:10 AM
GeorgePotter19 - He captained one match last summer and enraged a supporter so much they burst into the dressing room to complain, then Yorks won the match so he must be doing something right
by nickcricket4/7/2017 9:22:58 AM
Was asking about Davies because I was looking at Keepers, got enough cash to switch to Bairstow next round but didn't want a guy who wasn't keeping. Ended up going for Read, reckon he might get plenty of runs in div 2
by nickcricket4/7/2017 9:24:12 AM
So they've appointed a left handed number 4 batsman who doesn't really score runs, has the respect of the players and winds people up? Sounds familiar
by GeorgePotter194/7/2017 9:25:30 AM
That supporter also burst into the wrong dressing room, much to the amusement of Mick Newell and the Notts boys I am sure
by nickcricket4/7/2017 9:25:35 AM
Havent Surrey got the best keeper in the World according to Alec "another Surrey star I coached" Stewart
by Lawrence Payne4/7/2017 9:26:01 AM
GeorgePotter19 - Got a bit of a strike rate problem in white ball cricket, hang on a minute Gale is continuing to play in a Gary Ballance mask!
by nickcricket4/7/2017 9:26:49 AM
Bit of a problem you have to selected Duckett as a Wicketkeeper
by nickcricket4/7/2017 9:28:41 AM
battle of the bargain bucket no new signings teams at Canterbury.... can't wait.
