When does Sanga qualify to play for England? Great point fro Dez below - Surrey's other batters will only benefit from having him down the other end. Borthwick and SCurran might be the main beneficiaries. Borthwick is already on record about how much he learns from batting with one of the best

isn't Murtagh a new ball man like Jimmy or Onions, part of Patterson's problem this season is Yorkshire have needed him to be a bit more attacking and that doesn't suit him.

@NemoUKS I'd argue Tom Curran probably falls into that category personally - accurate, not particularly quick, deadly when the ball moves but builds pressure when it doesn't.
by SDHoneymonster5/26/2017 2:56:43 PM
The only thing they don't really have is a rhythm/first change bowler like a Patterson or a Murtagh. All their quicks are strike bowlers really. Perhaps they should get Tim Linley back!
by NemoUKS5/26/2017 2:55:14 PM
If Surrey don't win something this year it must be considered a failure. they really are spoilt with riches
by dave5/26/2017 2:54:06 PM
Well that's quite a stat - only 3 batsmen have ever achieved 6 first class centuries in a row before! Sanga is one of about 5 that have got 5 in a row

Only 4 Surrey players had ever got a century in 4 consecutive innings in the County Championship- I wonder how many have had 5...
by Freddie Lynch5/26/2017 2:51:48 PM
@FreddieLynch - correct... And free coaching for the batsmen at the other end thrown in too. Proper gent as Mark Boyle says.

Oh Durham. It's going to be a long season. Pringle batting at least 2 slots too high. But then look at what else is left to come. The talent pool is thin right now

Trying to coax Chris Rogers out of retirement apparently...

He's pretty much a local these days yes! Not lasting much longer though unfortunately.

Is he a local lad from Kennington way? Or is he one of the Dorking Sangakkara's?

Who's this Sangathingymibob chap playing for Surrey? Any good or just getting a lucky few out of the middle? Suspect he'll never amount to much
by PT10795/26/2017 2:24:56 PM
Fair enough. Strongbow is the Alex Barrow of ciders.
by StaggerBreaths5/26/2017 2:24:38 PM
Surely Elgar is Savannah Dry, the upstart South African import?
by NemoUKS5/26/2017 2:24:06 PM
Have to settle for Strongbow and Elgar instead.

Yep Surrey have quite a few good young uns coming up through their academy (Ollie Pope is another to watch out for) despite getting a lot of flack for some of their 'purchases'. Not quite in the league of Worcs though who are doing an excellent job IMO.
