I do understand the Elgar's variations reference, I'm just denying you the satisfaction ;)
by NemoUKS4/24/2017 11:32:43 AM
Another classical fan (Beet)hoving into view...
by StaggerBreaths4/24/2017 11:32:19 AM
all these reference to classical music and Elgar are falling on deaf ears, or was that the other composer
by dave4/24/2017 11:31:40 AM
we tried Bally. we tried
by Russell Chapman4/24/2017 11:31:26 AM
You can lead a horse to water Russ...
by StaggerBreaths4/24/2017 11:31:07 AM
Moeen still has the best variation.
by StaggerBreaths4/24/2017 11:30:40 AM
NemoUKS not a fan of classical music Bally
by Russell Chapman4/24/2017 11:30:39 AM
Well, most part time spinners have a few variations - the short wide one, the one that comes out all wrong and the one that doesn't come out at all
by NemoUKS4/24/2017 11:30:09 AM
...as Russ just said.
by StaggerBreaths4/24/2017 11:29:30 AM
Nemo, if he doesn't have variations the joke doesn't work. ☹️
by StaggerBreaths4/24/2017 11:29:20 AM
@NemoUKS what about his variations?
by Russell Chapman4/24/2017 11:29:08 AM
the fourth option is a tie - win, lose, draw and tie.
by dave4/24/2017 11:28:38 AM
He does bowl spin, thirteen test wickets of SLA. Not sure about him having a few mix-up balls...
by NemoUKS4/24/2017 11:28:29 AM
Cook, Bell and Bairstow all out within half an hour...reminds me of England's last tour of Australia.
by Dave Knibb4/24/2017 11:28:20 AM
George Dobell at Warwickshire (256-5) v Surrey
Footitt is bowling now, which is good news, and Ambrose has just reached a very fluent half-century with a glance off his hips for four off Tom Curran.
by George.Dobell4/24/2017 11:28:08 AM
Vithushan Ehantharajah at Hampshire 455 v Yorkshire 231 & 262-5
First ball with the new NUT does the trick. Bairstow, driving at a full ball, was undone by some seam movement away from him. Thick, healthy edge to the right of James Vince at third slip. Catch taken and Abbott has his second wicket of the innings. Wicket maiden for Abbott, too. Yorkshire lead by 38...
by Vithushan Ehantharajah4/24/2017 11:27:35 AM
I'm perpetually sad that Elgar isn't a mystery spinner.
by StaggerBreaths4/24/2017 11:27:32 AM
Yeh can play in t'seconds
by NemoUKS4/24/2017 11:26:52 AM
@NemoUKS Name: Elgar's composition?
by GeorgePotter194/24/2017 11:26:43 AM
when mr strauss sends ecb players back with no practice for months yorkshire should tell him we will not pick them

by ESPNcricinfo Live4/24/2017 11:26:15 AM
Its hard even for quality players to walk into the third match of a season cold when everyone else has been playing, Bairstow been so bored he had to go and watch the masters...
by nickcricket4/24/2017 11:26:09 AM
Another English batsman who can't play spin. Sigh.
by StaggerBreaths4/24/2017 11:25:51 AM
I do think Dean Elgar is a solid candidate for our new BallyBingo lead. He's on 0 off 6 so far...
by NemoUKS4/24/2017 11:25:36 AM
Poor Bairstow. I bet he's tired after such a busy month. He probably needs some rest, so that he can find his form.
by PT10794/24/2017 11:25:20 AM
@dave What is the 4th possibility?
by John4/24/2017 11:25:05 AM
WICKET: Essex 74/3 (23.3 ov, target: 452) v Middlesex AN Cook c Eskinazi b Rayner 37 (56) Partnership: 0 (1.1 ov) OP Rayner 0.3-0-0-1 DW Lawrence 0* (4)
Such a shame, but it seems Bairstow's technique has been well and truly found out at this level. He needs to go away and do remedial work on his action.
This Ballance chap looks handy though
by Will4/24/2017 11:24:44 AM
Root and Bairstow TFC
by GeorgePotter194/24/2017 11:24:06 AM
Root and Bairstow contribute 18 runs between them in 4 innings.

afternoon all. Somerset are set up well - all four results still possible. I'm actually thinking in Lancs favour - i'm guessing OIT is covered I cloud and the ball will swing?
by dave4/24/2017 11:22:19 AM
295 chase for Somers. That is beautifully poised.
by NemoUKS4/24/2017 11:21:27 AM
@PT1079 all you need to understand is that it means ECB can commission any 1st class cricket in the Uk it damn well likes - and because its so cash rich and the counties (Surrey and maybe 1 or 2 others apart) are so damn poor they either go along with it (taking their £1.3m bribe) or go out of business - it really is as simple and depressing as that - agree George Dobell?
by Russell Chapman4/24/2017 11:21:27 AM
Abbott on, new ball taken
by nickcricket4/24/2017 11:21:21 AM
The Ireland ODI Squad is announced tomorrow according to Cally

would link to ECB future policy of keeping the appearance of Cricket being nationally popular as long as it never leaves the stronghold of London
by nickcricket4/24/2017 11:20:04 AM
@russell - agree to some extent. The "prize" (in terms of revenue increase) needs to be higher. I can't comment on the changes to Articles as that's not something I fully understand. Anyway, back to today - games are ON with these recent wickets!

@DaveKnibb add two more London teams at Twickenham and the Olympic Stadium
