David Hopps at Notts 180 for 8 v Northants
There is some irony that eyebrows were raised at start of play at a used surface at Worcester seemingly designed for the spin bowling of Ravi Ashwin, but wickets seem to be falling faster just about everywhere else in the country.
Eight have gone at Notts and, as much as this has been a fine display by an excellent Northants attack, the suspicion is that Notts' pace attack will be equally difficult to handle when they get hold of the ball.
Steven Mullaney has held Notts together with 58, an innings ended when Rory Kleinveldt brought one back to hit off stump.
The loss of Chris Read, the sixth wicket to fall, stirred Riki Wessels into action - five boundaries in one over off Kleinveldt bringing the suspicion that Notts would survive Northants' challenge in reasonable order. Wessels has just completed his 50, warmly received by a decent crowd, soaking up the hottest Bank Holiday for many a year.
