I'm a biased Essex fan but I think Westley should be worth a try before Duckett gets another chance
by Joe Tompkins6/12/2017 2:25:43 PM
That's fair dez, I'll be happy to see Bairstow get a game, hope he doesn't fail, cause that'd be really awkward.
by Angus Mitchell6/12/2017 2:24:02 PM
He hasn't had the greatest of seasons so far Ben Duckett, but then neither has Jennings or Hameed for Tests...
by Angus Mitchell6/12/2017 2:23:24 PM
@AngusMitchell - when Nasser Hussain starts criticising Roy fairly strongly on air and saying his mind is 'scrambled' i reckon it's an indication that was his last chance (for now) & Bairstow will therefore be playing the semi-final. Hussain is normally a strong supporter of Roy & normally thinks the same way as the England management team do.
by dez dezzy6/12/2017 2:22:51 PM
Plus we've sort of got used to playing with 10 batsmen in ODIs now, so he could definitely play against what looks right now to be Pakistan... However it's also a good chance for Bairstow to finally do something on a pitch that doesn't involve fielding/essentially nothing
by Angus Mitchell6/12/2017 2:20:51 PM
Does anyone know who are ECB Towers Ben Duckett has offended?
by nickcricket6/12/2017 2:20:35 PM
@dezdezzy I am not really suggesting they drop him but He also averages 19 in International T20 and has 1 fifty in 19 matches, decides if they want to back a cricket a 3 match t20 series no one cares about is the perfect chance
by nickcricket6/12/2017 2:18:17 PM
Doubt they will be, Bairstow's gotta carry drinks and field still! I'm actually for Roy playing to be fair, certainly for T20's but we'll have to see, hope he comes good if we do play him
by Angus Mitchell6/12/2017 2:17:37 PM
I think Roy is a fixture in the T20 set-up. I can see him being replaced (even if only for a short while) by Bairstow for ODI's though.

INDIVIDUAL 50: GL van Buuren 51* (170) Gloucestershire 156/4 (66.5 ov, trail by 76 - 2nd inns) v Notts
by ESPNcricinfo Live6/12/2017 2:15:44 PM
@AngusMitchell Yep, although I guess that won't happen. Depends what happens with Roy in the CT. Still been no word on Yorkshire squad for tomorrow i.e if Bairstow or Willey are in it.
by nickcricket6/12/2017 2:14:12 PM
INDIVIDUAL 50: T Westley 50* (90) Essex 164/2 (42.2 ov, target: 253) v Surrey
by ESPNcricinfo Live6/12/2017 2:13:58 PM
Roy also has the most T20 centuries of anyone in the squad
by dez dezzy6/12/2017 2:13:55 PM
Yeah, or Malan opening and Bairstow 3?
by Angus Mitchell6/12/2017 2:12:14 PM
Roy has quite a poor IT20 record, so England could always go Buttler, Hales, Malan, Morgan, Bairstow, Livingstone, Dawson, Willey, Plunkett, Jordan Wood?
by nickcricket6/12/2017 2:11:19 PM
Yeah just to wind the Yorkies up! :)
by dez dezzy6/12/2017 2:11:01 PM
Didn't see the or between Plunkett and Willey, still, no Jonny though?
by Angus Mitchell6/12/2017 2:10:33 PM
only 6 bowlers and that includes Livingstone
by dez dezzy6/12/2017 2:09:45 PM
That's a lot of bowling dez, no Bairstow?
by Angus Mitchell6/12/2017 2:09:03 PM
Roy, Hales, Billings, Morgan, Livingstone, Buttler, Dawson, Curran, Plunkett or Willey, Jordan, Wood or Crane when he leaves
by dez dezzy6/12/2017 2:08:19 PM
I think so yeah, that's what the Middlesex commentators were saying, so Yorkshire might lose Ballance
by Angus Mitchell6/12/2017 2:08:06 PM
Is that when the Lions red ball fixture is?
by nickcricket6/12/2017 2:07:31 PM
Yeah probably, they're obsessed with Billings
by Angus Mitchell6/12/2017 2:06:50 PM
Oh please don't let Bairstow play against us as well!!! They've already got a considerably stronger squad than they had this match, and we'll be losing Gubbins, Malan, Helm, possibly TRJ, Voges still injured!
by Angus Mitchell6/12/2017 2:06:34 PM
I do think Malan deserves a go, just think England will play Billings first
by nickcricket6/12/2017 2:06:22 PM
Personally I would have just left him out and let him play against Middlesex to get some overs in behind the stumps and a couple of innings against the Red ball but I guess if England are putting him on the squad again then he will play
by nickcricket6/12/2017 2:04:46 PM
I'd suggest: 1: Roy 2: Hales 3: Malan 4: Morgan (c) 5: Bairstow/Billings when Bairstow leaves 6: Butler 7:Dawson 8: Willey 9: Plunkett 10: Jordan 11: Wood/Curran maybe Crane when Wood leaves
by Angus Mitchell6/12/2017 2:04:43 PM
Okay I officially need therapy after that one :'( Gutted for the team that was there for the taking. Fingers crossed for the next one but Somersets season is starting to look horribly ominous. Very poor start has just got worse
by Mark Ofield6/12/2017 2:04:28 PM
Nicks team seems about right. Nice to see Jordan back, and Overton and Curran in the squads, but you'd think they only need one of those as a backup bower.
by NemoUKS6/12/2017 2:03:58 PM
@NemoUKS Apprently not all the players are doing all the games for Example Bairstow is returning to Yorkshire after the first two games to play in the D/N CC round
by nickcricket6/12/2017 2:03:40 PM
@NemoUKS - only 13 are there for the duration though.

Suggestions for England XI for SA T20s?
by Angus Mitchell6/12/2017 1:59:52 PM
Yorkshire adding 50 and 60 for the 9th and 10 wicket in the two innings absolutely priceless when you win by 3 runs!

Been some cracking finishes in the CCC last few weeks, Somerset v Yorks, Kent v Durham, Durham v Glamorgan......such a glorious competition, long may it continue
by Joe Williams6/12/2017 1:56:20 PM
I think that's now four games Somerset have lost from holding a first innings lead this season. Not a great habit that.
