Tom Westley's 108 not out, and an equally fine innings of 77 from Nick Browne, took Essex to an emphatic eight-wicket victory against Surrey at Guildford which takes them to the top of the Specsavers County Championship Division One table

David Hopps: Yorkshire's captain once again came to the fore, but Somerset survived an early collapse to set up a fascinating final day

Warwickshire have got to play better at some point right? They look good on paper...

Well done Essex. Top of the table again. Its good to see players scoring runs that cannot be immediately discounted as "only division 2" runs.

dez dezzy - Yes, Sidebottom doesn't play white ball Cricket so maybe explains why he was bowling and someone like Patto and Waite will play tomorrow so its a good thought. Still doesn't explain why Lyth was bowling instead of Rafiq will have to put that too GAZBAZ captaincy magic. I guess at least it is the same for everyone although Somerset get some advantage from being at home. Think it is sad this is the way the RLODC is treated but hey its going to be a 2nd XI comp soon, Yorkshire have half of their second team in already

Playing a RLODC knockout the day after a CC match is daft. Sam Curran hasn't bowled since the 11th over and i bet that's the reason why. May have been why Ballance saved his quicks at Somerset too - though it worked for him!
