Jon Culley at Nottinghamshire v Derbyshire 151-4
What was shaping up as a comfortable-ish win for Derbyshire in the gloom and the wind here suddenly looks rather less certain after Wayne Madsen suffered what is usually termed a rush of blood and needlessly gave away his wicket. Madsen’s assured 61 had brought the target down to 75 from 20.3 overs when he took a big swing at Samit Patel and sliced the ball horribly in the air towards deep point. Brett Hutton saw it coming and flung himself full length to take the catch inches off the ground. A good piece of bowling by Luke Wood had seen off a dangerous-looking Billy Godleman and Shiv Thakor had gloved one from Harry Gurney, both falling to catches snapped up by the ever-reliable Chris Read but Madsen’s departure is a real blow to Derbyshire. Alex Hughes has not looked as comfortable as their supporters would like and Gary Wilson needs to get into the groove quickly. Nonetheless, with 18 overs left and 65 to get it is there for the taking, provided the rain holds off.
