Tim Wigmore at Sussex 93-2 v Durham
A tense, gripping morning at Hove. It took Graham Onions only four balls to take the second wicket, a bit of away movement eliciting an outside edge from Chris Nash - who has already been dropped in the same over. But Sussex have been relatively unperturbed since, the recalled Luke Wells driving attractively through the offside and now in sight of his 50.
Paul Edwards at Lancashire 309-6 v Yorkshire
And that, one imagines, secures a draw in the 270th Roses match. I am referring to the four leg-byes conceded a few moments ago by Yorkshire which saw Lancashire both save the follow-on and secure their third batting bonus point. It also brought up the fifty partnership between Ryan McLaren and Stephen Parry, both of whom have batted well this morning and have opportunities to register personal landmarks: McLaren's first century for Lancashire; Parry's maiden fifty for anyone in the first-class game.
There is, of course neither the time nor the desire for a contrived finish. Such low conduct would probably raise the ghost of Lord Hawke and prompt a visitation from the seven hell-hounds of Beelzebub.
