Vithushan Ehantharajah at Surrey 280 v Middlesex 247 & 62-4
I don't want to speak out of turn, but the shot Paul Stirling has played, with his team just 27 ahead, four batsmen down (including Nick Compton, who retired hurt overnight with back spasms), is as bad as you'll ever see. I'm talking fourth XI, thigh pad on the outside, black trainers, grey tracksuit bottoms, uncut strip, oh-sorry-we-forgot-your-team-only-eats-halal bad. Dark clouds have gathered overhead and so we might lose a bit under 30-minutes before lunch, which may help Middlesex escape with a draw, but they look a sorry shadow of their 2016 selves. They lead, for now, by 29 runs.
