Leicestershire 240-8 trail Sussex by 22 runs
Sussex took four wickets in the afternoon session at Arundel as Leicestershire were frustrated in their efforts to build a first-innings lead on the second day of their Championship match.
The theme of the first day, when several batsmen got established without making a substantial score continued on a dry pitch now taking spin.
Leicestershire, 157 for 4 at lunch, lost two wickets in six balls. Ned Eckersley (35) lost his off stump aiming to hit a full-length delivery from Jofra Archer through the leg side then debutant Will Fazakerley was lbw to leg-spinner Will Beer padding up.
Lewis Hill, who had come in at the fall of the fourth wicket, held his side together with 49 but when Chris Jordan took the new ball he struck twice in the same over. Hill drove to cover then Matt Pillans edged his second delivery to second slip.
At tea, Rob Sayers had batted for nearly an hour for his 22 and Clint McKay was 8 not out with Leicestershire 240 for 8, still behind by 22 runs.
