Ireland wouldn't want to jeopardise their test status by also being considered as a 'county' i'd think, 3 7s could be achieved but whichever counties / countries would be added would struggle financially to become full time and travel wise they are all arse end of the country which would add further logistical challenges for them

I'd be happy to have the Dutch involved again. Dad might finally get around to ticking watch Essex away in the Netherlands off of his bucket list.
Doth mine eyes deceive me, or has DBD actually scored some runs?

9 balls no runs this morning.

I think the one conclusion we can all agree on is there should be more counties

I recall this being suggested before. I don't think Ireland want to play, they have their own FC comp. now. Scotland, Dutchland, a.n. otherland?
by StaggerBreaths9/14/2017 10:08:44 AM
@nemoUKS Personally think that would be quite a good idea, Ireland, Scotland and Holland all get a county

by Will Colwell9/14/2017 10:07:43 AM
They should 'City team' the 50 over comp, get it down to eight teams. That would reduce the fixtures or have three groups

Could we do a Pro14 in Rugby and add Dutch and Irish sides?
by NemoUKS9/14/2017 10:07:21 AM
Also re. scheduling, don't forget there's another exciting T20 tourney on the horizon that needs fitting in! ¬_¬

The ECB won't make more First Class Counties, if anything they will decide that they don't need to subside 18 and start letting them go belly up.
by nickcricket9/14/2017 10:06:13 AM
'...trust the ECB not to screw them over...'? '...plan a sensible fixture list...'? If we ignore those two glaring problems... yeah I don't actually know anything about the minor counties. Presumably what Joe said.

by Joe Williams9/14/2017 10:04:18 AM
Approx 18 weeks from start of May to end of August plus a couple more weeks in April/September... 10/12 FC games per side leaves 8/6 weeks for 50 over and T20 tournaments. You'd like to hope that the ECB can plan a sensible fixture list in that but I won't hold my breath...

Wait, England have 20 year old legspin/left arm orthodox twins? That's amazing
by Will Colwell9/14/2017 10:03:33 AM
@SB Which MCs would be 'promoted' to get up towards 21? And can we trust the ECB not to screw them over, a la Durham?

I'm guessing they saw the flat state of the Oval pitch and went for a right arm / left arm spin combo.
