Tim Wigmore at Somerset 98-4 v Surrey
Stuart Meaker is an infuriating bowler. He is prone to spray the ball around and has suffered from more vagaries of form than anyone would wish: in a dreadful 2015 summer, he only mustered five first-class wickets at 56.20 apiece, spending much of the time marooned in the second team. Yet when it all clicks he has the pace, reverse swing and ferocity that makes it easy to see why he played for England in some limited overs cricket in 2011 and 2012. He’s showing the best of himself this afternoon, snaring both George Bartlett and James Hildreth with balls that moved back in. With Gareth Batty canny at the other end - he’s just bowled the obdurate Eddie Byrom, with a ball that snuck past the outside edge to clip to offbail - Surrey have designs on a three-day victory.
