Tim Wigmore at Surrey 425-8 v Somerset
Kumar Sangakkara is out, after charging down the wicket to Tom Abell and getting a leading edge. Still, he had made 157, to go with the 171 and 71 he scored at The Oval against Somerset last summer. Rikki Clarke provided fine support during his own 50, driving with great authority down the ground until being snaffled by a direct hit. Still, Surrey should be in excellent mood ahead of this evening’s end of season dinner, when Kumar will pick up more awards than he will be able to hold.
Paul Edwards at Northants v Nottinghamshire 96-3
Gripping stuff here and so much riding on this day's cricket. Luke Wood and Jake Libby must have played and missed a dozen times, most of them to Ben Sanderson, before Wood skied a pull to mid off, where Wakely took a good catch. But the overnight pair gritted it out to add 75 for the third wicket and the same responsibilities now fall on the shoulders of Pujara, Patel et al. Notts still need over 200 runs and the pitch repays an accurate line and length.
