There's still a lot of overs left SB, you never know
by Dave Knibb9/28/2017 3:36:32 PM
Unfortunately I think Hampshire have probably played out enough overs now...
by StaggerBreaths9/28/2017 3:35:12 PM
@Joe I understand fully what you say, just coming at it from different angles.

and with that i'll leave my opinions on Stokes there, and concentrate solely on Hants vs Middx.
Personally home Hants stay up, simply because I see them as a weaker opponent next season, and we'll need all the help we can get to stay up
by Joe Williams9/28/2017 3:32:12 PM
@DaveKnibb at the risk of dragging this out further....and apologies all round, the hero worship and etc that go with becoming a public figure does also seem to increase the number of numpties that want a pop when they see you on a night out, something Botham eludes to quite frequently in his autobiog. I think it unfair to expect them to not go out ever, especially when there was no curfew etc. but yes it is wrong for them or anyone else to end up fighting

Ah, caught driving. Excellent.
by StaggerBreaths9/28/2017 3:26:43 PM
I did like what Botham said about how to mange things, but I remember him and Allan Lamb having a punch up in a Northampton pub in the mid 80's with people who were baiting them. No charges were ever pressed but, bloody hell, Lambie had one hell of a punch.
by Dave Knibb9/28/2017 3:26:37 PM
Rikki for Stokes shurely?

@StaggerBreaths I like to think SlowBowler is Peter Bowler
We now have both MediumTedium and SlowBowler enabled on the forum.

@StaggerBreaths Cheers!

One mitigating factor Dave is that he might find his sponsorships dry up a tad now. #yayfreemarket

I have no idea how much a typical County player earns. I saw that Gurney implied he'd bought a house with the proceeds from playing a couple of ODI.

CHAMPIONS!!
by Duluth K. Archaeopteryx9/28/2017 3:22:09 PM
Campeones! viva Worcestershire. Time to aim to see if we can make a full 3 season stay next time :)

At the end of the day we are all human, we are all fallible, that's fine. I have never been a 'national' figure, sadly, but i've managed to avoid being arrested for brawling in the street. When you achieve a certain level of 'celebrity' in Sport, that level of 'hero worship' comes with a certain amount of responsibiilty, that is the price you pay for the millions and the adulation. Whether you are a cricketer, footballer (Rooney being a case in point) you have a responsibility for your actions. When your 40 you can do what you want, but the riches come with certain criteria. Is that too much to ask?

At the risk of some unwanted jinxing, I must say Holland was one of my better fantasy signings this year, consistent points and bought for about 30/40k
