@StaggerBreaths When did this become a thing? Excellent news
by Beth Watson9/28/2017 11:48:57 AM
It's pretty much impossible to penalise a pitch in a game that lasted over 260 overs.

World's first review not lost for an umpire's call. What a time to be alive.
by StaggerBreaths9/28/2017 11:46:36 AM
@Haystack_Jnr Yes they do, obviously there isn't usually this much riding on it. The game went 4 days and scores a consistent with other grounds. It was hard for Middlesex to bat last on the pitch but they learned the same lesson that England always do that on spinning pitches you must get your runs in the first innings

Karunaratne run out on 93 by his skipper. Fantastically comedic stuff.
by StaggerBreaths9/28/2017 11:42:26 AM
Concerning dodgy pitch point deductions. Does anyone know if they always wait until the end of the game to announce them ?

Jon Culley at Warwickshire v Hampshire 59-1
News of the result at Taunton reached here at around 12.20 and on the face of it you might say Hampshire have a chance, needing 200 more with nine wickets still in hand. Tom Alsop and Sean Ervine have benefitted from some pretty wayward seam bowling from Chris Wright and Olly Hannon-Dalby but now that Jeetan Patel has been tossed the ball it looks a much taller order. The off-spinner had big appeals against Alsop turned down off consecutive balls in his first over, for caught slip and caught behind, but in each case the ball had beaten everything.

Helpful wicket etc, but can we appreciate Jack Leach (again) for being so good while also looking like a middle manager at a mid-sized advertising agency? Delighted for Somerset, and fair play to Tom Abell for surviving a difficult old season.

I hate the MCC "Updated Masterplan, a £194m programme of works that will be completed in 2032. The entire development will be funded from the club's own resources"

@nickcricket yes, Podmore is still a Middlesex player.

Yet another wicket from J Leach, whose efforts have ensured Div 1 cricket next year. That's his seventh of the innings

George Dobell at Somerset v Middlesex (113).
Somerset have beaten Middlesex and will play in Division One next season. Which means Marcus Trescothick can still win the Championship before he retires. Middlesex need Warwickshire to win. And, this season, that’s not a great place to be.

by baptrimble9/28/2017 11:20:10 AM
Also does anyone else think The Sun (and others) are structuring their articles lopsidedly with the intention to victimise Stokes. I'm not defending him, just that he's innocent until proven guilty. The footage was ugly but he obviously claims he did it to defend someone.
