Jon Culley at Notts 135-3 v Kent
The weather forecast changes by the hour but at the moment we are looking good to start on time. After that, who knows? It will be a relief to Alex Hales and Steven Mullaney to be batting in daylight after the challenge of last evening, which Hales admitted was “difficult.”
“When I first went out it felt quite flat but after the sun set and the lights came on it seemed to get a bit lively, with a bit of swing and bounce and it took some adjusting to, which made it quite interesting,” he said. “I think the game will go through phases of being quite flat and then having to adapt quickly so I think it will be quite exciting and certainly brings a new dimension to four-day cricket.
“That evening session was definitely the most difficult part of the day, although they did change the ball, which might have been a factor. It’s early days, though.”
