Vithushan Ehantharajah at Middlesex 233 v Lancashire 31-2
A first wicket for Middlesex, albeit six overs overdue. In the second over of the Lancashire innings, a brute from Toby Roland-Jones squared up Alex Davies and drew an edge through to John Simpson. Oddly, Simpson put it down. I'm not sure I've seen Simpson drop a catch before. Davies looked as shocked as anyone. He's just had a further shock: leaving a ball from Tim Murtagh that moved in late and looked destined for off stump. Back to that first one: Hameed was doing that blocky-blocky thing he does so well. Only, in not looking to move the strike around, he was asking to be set-up. Five deliveries outside off stump and one moving in was enough. Dane Vilas has nearly run himself out and, next ball, Liam Livingstone gets off the mark with a glorious on drive. A skewed edge behind backward point brings him four more.
