Especially for Sam Curran, young lad who ends up bowling 35 overs of fast bowling then expected to go pretty big as a top order batsman as well
by MctSmithy9/19/2017 11:16:13 AM
now that Eddie Byrom is approaching 30 shall we play a round of ByromBingo? His high scores this season are 43, 43, 42, 40 and 38.
I'll go for a new high score of 44

Durham v Sussex
Just one of the last 12 games between these sides has ended in a draw, with Durham holding the head to head advantage in this period (W7, L4).
Durham have won their last four home games against Sussex, losing there just once in this fixture across the last 10 years (W6, D1).
Durham have alternated between a draw and victory across their last seven matches, for this run to continue they are due victory here after drawing with Kent last time out.
Jofra Archer is one of just two players to score 500 runs and take 50 wickets in either Division this season (537 runs 58 wickets, Darren Stevens the other, 673 runs, 57 wickets).

I'm aware there is little point trying to get sympathy for Surrey but it must be a killer for the bowlers to turn upto the Oval and see yet another road. I can't see any of the bowlers getting into England's red ball team

Derbyshire v Kent
Kent have lost just one of their last eight against Derbyshire (W4, D3).
At Queen’s Park however Derbyshire are unbeaten in four against Kent (W1, D3), the Spitfires last winning at the venue in 1979.
After beating Sussex in their last game Derbyshire are looking for back to back County Championship wins for the first time since their final two games of the 2014 season.
Darren Stevens is one of just two players to score 500 runs and take 50 wickets in either Division this season (673 runs, 57 wickets, Jofra Archer the other, 537 runs 58 wickets).

That's a bit harsh... What about the womens world cup?
by dez dezzy9/19/2017 10:52:17 AM
Depressing fact: at 60, Byrom and Trescothick have just recorded Somerset's highest first wicket partnership of the season (no, really, all of it), surpassing 58 (Elgar and Tres) at home to Hampshire in May. It's the second lowest highest partnership of any from 1-11 after 7th (47), even 11th (61) is higher. You might blame this on Tres' barren summer, but he's involved in the highest 2nd, 3rd and 4th wicket partnerships. Funny old world: stats.espncricinfo.com

To be fair, that is the pinnacle for the summer of cricket in Glous
by Joe Williams9/19/2017 10:50:00 AM
That Gloucestershire sales pitch includes the truly astonishing paragraph:
"The pinnacle moment of a huge summer of cricket will be on Sunday 24 September when England & West Indies arrive in Bristol for this Royal London One-Day International fixture."
by Will Colwell9/19/2017 10:47:37 AM
Morning all. Where was Tim Wigmore doing his report from? I'm planning to go to the Oval on Thursday, that looks like a nice spot to watch from.
by David Taylor9/19/2017 10:47:14 AM
Can't wait for the Day Nighter at the Ageas on September 29th. Can see that being scarf weather.
If you wanted to go to Bristol to watch a meaningless ODI against the West Indies in late September, tickets start from the low low price of .... £45: www.gloscricket.co.uk
by Will Colwell9/19/2017 10:46:47 AM
I genuinely had no idea there was a game, it's not even making onto the front pages of BBC sport! Agreed an utterly pointless ODI series
by Joe Williams9/19/2017 10:45:45 AM
I imagine the West Indies players are thrilled about playing day/night matches in England in late September

Yorkshire v Warwickshire
Warwickshire have been relegated to Division 2 for the first time since gaining promotion after the 2008 season.
Yorkshire are unbeaten in 10 games against the Bears, winning six of those games, with four of those six wins coming by an innings margin.
46% of the 26 wickets that Keith Barker has taken this season have been those of openers, the highest ratio of any bowler to take 10+ wickets in the Division.
Yorkshire won by an innings and 88 runs when these teams met earlier in the season with Ben Coad taking two five wicket hauls in that match, one of four players to manage the feat in Division One this season (Simon Harmer x2).
