Poor old Hants, packed full of non England players, Bransgrove showing no remorse and claiming it helps the youngsters, wanting all Internationals to stop when the new City T20 starts in 2020 as the focus should be on that (I presume he knows he's got a team then), my heart bleeds for them.

by nickcricket9/26/2017 4:30:19 PM
I would find it hilarious if we got relegated and then a Somerset points deduction kept us up again I actually not even bothered if we go down, had 3 years of just losing continuously and our middle order would see us scoring about 500 runs a day in div 2

Surely the ECB must realise a lot of players and staff CBA at this time of the year. Look at the way they're getting out as much as the pitch

@MctSmithy 'Aussie grit.' I think the last time an Aussie team managed to grit out a draw was Old Trafford in 2005.
by SDHoneymonster9/26/2017 4:17:36 PM
@JohnLillie More wickets fell on the opening day at Lord's last week on a pitch with uneven bounce from day one, and Hameed ended up breaking his finger, yet no action taken there. So I fully expect Somerset to be docked points, as it's the ECB.
by SDHoneymonster9/26/2017 4:17:06 PM
Essex docked 100 points and relegated. That'll learn 'em
by John Lillie9/26/2017 4:16:43 PM
Yes, they'll be docked 100 points meaning that a proper test match county (tm) win the CC

Awful shot from Dawson, short and wide ball and he cut it straight to point He's fast becoming a bowler who can bat a bit We need some Aussie grit
by MctSmithy9/26/2017 4:15:56 PM
Will the Essex pitch be looked into after the math as well? 22 wickets vs 23 at Somerset and fewer runs as well
by John Lillie9/26/2017 4:14:58 PM
Would hate to see that Dave but I'm sure if it went to a vote the ECB could probably get a majority of counties to vote for it. Can't have these pesky upstarts like Essex winning the Championship with their small ground

I can see a time, in the next couple of years, when it's one up one down, but conditional that any promoted teams must have Test Match facilities. That would be the final nail in the coffin, but I can see it happening. Rebranded as the Premier League and the Associate County League...mark my words...

At the risk of spoiling my own nearly finished article, there are the same number of players born in Harare currently playing county cricket as there are in Nottinghamshire... not a bad effort.
