I just cannot believe that taking a West Indian batsmen on for 2 games in September didn't work, I mean who would have thought it. Pillocks.

David Hopps at Leicestershire 16-5 v Northants
These late September starts could be the answer: it's certainly action packed. Leicestershire have lost five wickets while I have been bashing out a few paragraphs on Keaton Jennings. Quick checking of the LCCC analyst's replays reveal that Mark Cosgrove played on driving a full-length ball from Richard Gleeson and Aadil Ali was lbw to a straight one. Five down, Northants full of energy and Leicestershire's chances of pulling off a first win of the season at the last time of asking not looking too high.

The roundabout's aiding spin as well, and there's a bit of wobble from the horses-on-springs. Very dangerous.

@DavidHopps What's a children's playground doing mid-pitch? That's extreme doctoring right there!
@dezdezzy I was generalising but still... I'd rather see a pitch that does a bit from the start rather than one that doesn't do a bit at all. We do get awfully concerned when there's even a hint of turn on the first day in this country.

Will Colwell, not sure if that counts as reckless or incompetent (or both). Take your point, but the run rate doesn't suggest a thrash.
