@dezdezzy Would expect nothing more from 'run one short' Pollard

The no-ball scandal is what i'm particularly referring to

Did anyone see this by the way - www.espncricinfo.com Sorry realise it might be a swear word to some!

Bangladesh possibly robbed of a wicket if Hawkeye showed the ball going on to the stumps. Aleem somehow managed to convince himself that bat hitting pad can't make a sound so it must have been an inside edge.

Anyone got a view on the Trent Bridge Test starting on a Saturday?

Lancashire v Essex
Lancashire are unbeaten in their last 15 matches versus Essex (W7 D8); their last defeat to them coming in 1997.
Lancashire have only lost once in their last 19 home games (W9 D9); they have won three successive games on their own patch coming in to this fixture.
Essex are currently enjoying an 11-game unbeaten streak (W7 D4); the current Division One leaders have won each of their last five games ahead of this contest.
Jamie Porter (Essex) comes into this game on the back of career-best match figures in first-class cricket (12/95); only teammate Simon Harmer (53) has taken more wickets this season in Division One than Porter (52).
Instead of playing five matches against Australia, they could add Ireland/Afghanistan or Zimbabwe to play a tri-series or a 4-team tournament.

Yorkshire v Middlesex
Middlesex have won four matches in succession versus Yorkshire.
In fact, five of the last nine losses suffered by Yorkshire have come against the 2016 champions.
Yorkshire have claimed victory in three of their last four home games played against Middlesex (L1).
Sam Robson (Middlesex) scored 159 when he last faced Yorkshire; he’s 69 away from recording 8,000 first-class runs.

First Wicket Watch is going to be a bit dull then.

Northants tweeted earlier that a start on time was very unlikely
by Joe Tompkins9/5/2017 9:27:10 AM
No word of a delay at Northants though?

Looks like Hampshire v Surrey is the only one set to start

The ECB has just signed a big new TV deal but I wonder what will happen at the end of the contact, could by then the Domestic T20 comp be worth more than International One Day matches? As has happened in India?
by nickcricket9/5/2017 9:24:38 AM
Is a single match going to start on time?
by StaggerBreaths9/5/2017 9:24:26 AM
@Dez It's wet here in Northampton

Northants v Sussex due to start in 6 mins but no toss yet?
by dez dezzy9/5/2017 9:23:20 AM
I reckon there's room for a chat about this here SDHM. Fair enough if you don't care, indeed I don't mind much about context when it comes to Tests (reckon Pakistan should get more than two though, they're great). But a five-match contextless ODI series is too long for me. Three matches fine.
by StaggerBreaths9/5/2017 9:22:04 AM
@JoeWilliams True, although the Test in August was glorious the sun shined, the members got to moan about the Western Terrace and England fans got to moan about England
by nickcricket9/5/2017 9:22:01 AM
Is there such a thing as a relegation 48 pointer?
by NemoUKS9/5/2017 9:21:02 AM
So The North gets 1 Tests, Two ODIs and a IT20, shame their is no old Trafford Test. Not even going to try and get India IT20 Tickets, will no doubt he top end pricing
by nickcricket9/5/2017 9:20:50 AM
Nick, June is about the best we'll get at Headingley
by Joe Williams9/5/2017 9:19:50 AM
@StaggerBreaths Realise I'm in a minority here but context doesn't bother me. I quite like competition for the sake of it, and I doubt just tacking on a trophy to some Tests over a couple of years is going to suddenly get people flocking to the games or players taking it seriously. But this is a debate for another blog, another time.
by SDHoneymonster9/5/2017 9:19:48 AM
So... England then?
by StaggerBreaths9/5/2017 9:19:38 AM
@nickcricket In fairness anywhere where it's still cold in June has no right hosting cricket at all...
by SDHoneymonster9/5/2017 9:18:33 AM
Test at Headingley just into June as well, oh well. Its nice wearing Ski gear at a Cricket match!
by nickcricket9/5/2017 9:18:00 AM
Oh pffft, since when did we care what the Aussies think! Or they us.
by StaggerBreaths9/5/2017 9:17:39 AM
@Joe Williams Amir was named in the 14 man Essex squad but wasn't expected to be there, toss delayed so no news on whether he will make the lineup.
by JoeTheRef9/5/2017 9:17:36 AM
@StaggerBreaths Doubt the Aussies feel they're contextless given that they're only a year before a WC being held in England.
by SDHoneymonster9/5/2017 9:16:55 AM
Not that the two Tests against Pakistan have much... or indeed the five against India. (Which I reckon will still sell out fastest, the first days/weekend days anyway. Diasporas and that.)
by StaggerBreaths9/5/2017 9:16:40 AM
He's right about the utter lack of context though.
by StaggerBreaths9/5/2017 9:15:57 AM
Wigmore already being scathing on Twitter about the ODI series against Australia next summer as if those games aren't going to sell out faster than any of the others.

Hampshire v Surrey
Four of the last five meetings between these sides have ended in a draw; Surrey winning by an innings and 13 runs in July 2016.
Surrey are unbeaten in their last nine visits to Hampshire (W7 D2); their most recent defeat there coming in 1994.
Surrey are without a win in their last nine matches; only one of those matches ended in defeat however (D8).
Rory Burns (Surrey) is 70 runs away from 6,000 in first-class cricket; he posted his highest ever first-class innings score when these sides met earlier in the campaign (219*).
