Vithushan Ehantharajah at Northants v Sussex
Got to Wantage Road in a rush after forgetting the 10:30am start (don't tell me some of you weren't caught short by it, too. "Luckily" the weather saved me.
No play, as with everywhere else, so not too much to note. But it's interesting that Geroge Garton is not in the squad. Really peculiar not least because there has been talk among members that he could go. Thing is, though, a lot of younger players go stir crazy when they're not playing because it means they can't get noticed for England squads of all kinds. However, Garton is very much on the ECB's radar, making England Lions teams and even getting a shout out from Paul Farbrace when the left-armer was down at the Oval training with the full side ahead of the South Africa Test. Tough Sussex side to get into, mind, with Jordan-Archer-Wiese-Robinson-Briggs set to line-up as the bowling five for this fixture.
Speaking of nippy left-armers, Atif Sheikh's time as a Northants player seems to be up, A shedload of 2nd XI games, a Champo debut against Gloucestershire and then back to the 2s for a match on August 22nd. A bright talent falling away. Can't say he's not had chances. Real shame.
