Jon Culley at Warwickshire v Somerset
Much brighter now at Edgbaston, where there seems a decent chance of a start before not too much longer. There is a bit of a muddy patch near one of the wicket ends but it’s four strips away from the one prepared for this match so shouldn’t be a problem. Warwickshire have named the England Under-19 seamer Henry Brookes to make his senior debut in an attack also comprising Chris Wright, Keith Barker, Jeetan Patel and Ryan Sidebottom (the other one). Only three players – Patel, Tim Ambrose and Dom Sibley – who figured for Birmingham Bears in Saturday’s NatWest Blast final here are in the Warwickshire line-up. Brookes for Ollie Stone is the only change from the side beaten by Lancashire in the Championship last week. Somerset named their England Under-19 batsman George Bartlett in their squad but have opted to stick with the team that lost to Essex, despite director of cricket Matthew Maynard complaining that too many of his side appeared “resigned to being relegated”.
