Strange leave by Stevo there...must have been getting cold

@nickcricket I think about 20% of Tom Abell's runs this season have come off the bowling of John Simpson

Handscomb record is boost by a very cheap hundred in the final innings against Lancs when everyone knew it was a draw and Lancs were resting their major bowlers
by nickcricket6/21/2017 10:48:29 AM
not counting extras: GS Ballance - 27% PSP Handscomb - 14% AZ Lees - 10% A Lyth - 10% AJ Hodd - 7%
Yorkshire bowling has struggled for a while on flatter pitches they all bowl as well as anyone on a pitch doing a little so I would expect them to keep Yorkshire mid table. Like a lot of Counties the batting look decent on paper but are not performing and there isn't a lot underneath to replace them with. Harry Brook has got to the first team faster than a lot of people thought which is a bonus and TKC will offer another option.

Somerset will be sans Elgar so Yorkshire could beat them if they open with Boycott and Chris Old

Tempted to start a SAA no balls sweepstake for the match. Do they not call them in SA?
by StaggerBreaths6/21/2017 10:31:03 AM
Four no balls.
by StaggerBreaths6/21/2017 10:30:25 AM
Ballace would miss Somerset and Essex both at Scarborough which is a shame because he likes batting there, Looking down the run scorers list Yorkshire would be in real trouble without him. It is easy to moan about England players but Root and Bairstow are property England even in the latter doesn't play much. Willey isn't in the first XI in CC for me. Plunkett might be useful but he didn't bowl with any success in the CC last summer. I wonder if his pace has gone a bit and the cutters he uses so effectively in he ODI don't work in FC Cricket

Any word on a follow-on (or otherwise?) at Lords?
by Alex Thomas6/21/2017 10:24:58 AM
@dezdezzy The lucky thing for Yorkshire would be that most of the Tests are during the T20 blast, so I guess Bally wouldn't miss too many CC games.
by nickcricket6/21/2017 10:24:21 AM
If Ballance does play the Tests then i reckon Yorks could be a serious contender for relegation
