I fully expect Jennings to open. The make up of the middle order then depends on where Root bats. Can easily see a Cook, Jennings, Root, Ballance, Ali, Stokes, Bairstow batting lineup.

I can't see Hameed playing. Two tests since he last played, and only two under his belt, and an average of 19 in the champo with a high score of 47. On what basis do you pick him? Two solid innings in India last year?

@JoeWilliams Be much more damaging to put him in against South Africa than dropping him would be at this moment I think.

George, I imagine that England will stick with him to start, he's not failed for England yet and that's what I think will matter, give it 2 tests of no scores and he'll be dropped, but hopefully not damaged forever
