God love Jack Leach, 100 wickets for him since last season

This rain at the Oval wasn't forecast, hope that extra 2 hours the batted was worth it...also when Lees gets in you won't need any slips and there is't any need to aim at the stumps he never misses it

They secretly swapped the London pitches around while nobody was looking.
by StaggerBreaths9/13/2017 2:52:07 PM
Did they get Mick Hunt in?
by nickcricket9/13/2017 2:51:36 PM
Y'all keep missing the real problem with Surrey, which is that they keep playing Jade 'Git' Dernbach and he keeps doing well.
by StaggerBreaths9/13/2017 2:51:28 PM
Yet to see a 4th innings at the Oval in the Championship this season
by Will Colwell9/13/2017 2:50:41 PM
Trying not to SB, trying... :)
by dez dezzy9/13/2017 2:49:27 PM
And it suggests that the Oval has been a good place to bat that, four of the top 13th play there and they are not top of the table.
by nickcricket9/13/2017 2:49:21 PM
(...please don't take that Surrey post seriously...)

'...superb stop by Collingwood. Throwing himself full-stretch to his right to pull off a one-handed stop'
STILL GOT IT
by StaggerBreaths9/13/2017 2:47:56 PM
And I mean it with all respect when I say that Surrey are filthy cheating b*stards who ought to be shoved in jail right this instant. ^_^
by StaggerBreaths9/13/2017 2:47:36 PM
I don't particularly mind Kieran - like I said, Hoppsy said at one point that the CC Liveblog needed activity to survive. Worm cans are one way of keeping things active, so long as it's done with respect.
by StaggerBreaths9/13/2017 2:47:11 PM
Here's my view: Poaching - harsh term, players don't have to move and if they can earn more elsewhere and enhance their international prospects, who wouldn't (ps is it any different to England poaching non-English born players.....) Kolpaks - in any one full game week there are 220 players playing, even if each team had 1 international and 4 Kolpaks that's still leaving 120 english qualified players playing CCC, that should be enough to see quality English players getting regular games.
by Joe Williams9/13/2017 2:46:19 PM
Admittedly 7 years ago but i did my dissertation on Kolpaks in CC. At the time, over 70% would not be considered good enough to get near a national side but regularly took the place of home grown players

UPDATE: Match delayed by rain, Yorkshire 78/0 (20 ov, trail by 514 - 1st inns) v Surrey

Y'all should be grateful that was the worms-related .gif I chose.
@dezdezzy The point was that they bought in an absolute juggernaut of an overseas player. The next highest run scorer was one they nicked from Durham.
by Kieran Layer9/13/2017 2:44:38 PM
@StaggerBreaths I think he has scored more than 850 runs.

by nickcricket9/13/2017 2:43:30 PM
@nickcricket - thanks for that. So it turns out that the highest home grown run scorer in Div 1 is from the Surrey LOL.
by dez dezzy9/13/2017 2:43:27 PM
How does Trott have that many runs...
by StaggerBreaths9/13/2017 2:42:31 PM
Just catching up on the chat, poaching is a bugbear with me but I think the Kolpaks are the bigger problem in the game today. Does anyone know how many Kolpaks are playing CC at the moment? Must be an awful lot.
by Dave Knibb9/13/2017 2:42:23 PM
@KieranLayer - we're not opening a can of worms, just taking exception to the claim that apart from Harmer it's only the home-grown players that have been behind Essex's success
by dez dezzy9/13/2017 2:42:10 PM
@KieranLayer in Div 1 Its Sangakkara, then Stoneman, Burns, Trott, Ballance, Browne
by nickcricket9/13/2017 2:41:49 PM
Oh well, if Hoppsy can show this as evidence to his bosses that the Liveblog is alive and thriving then it's all to the good.
