Yorkshire 265-8 lead Warwickshire by 46 runs
Yorkshire recovered from the loss of two quick wickets after lunch on day two to claim a first-innings lead as they chase a precious Specsavers County Championship win over Warwickshire at Headingley.
Replying to 219, the White Rose advanced from 153 for four at lunch to 265 for eight from 87 overs, leading by 46.
They lost Gary Ballance and Andrew Hodd caught behind off Jeetan Patel and Chris Wright for 28 and 14 respectively, leaving the score at 179 for six in the 61st.
Yorkshire have been tested by some probing bowling, with miserly Patel getting decent turn from the Kirkstall Lane End.
Jack Leaning and Tim Bresnan shared 49 for the seventh wicket to take the hosts into the lead, with Leaning making 36.
But he was the third wicket to fall in the afternoon, matching Warwickshire’s morning haul, when he miscued a drive at Matt Lamb’s medium pacers and found Ian Bell at gully - 228 for seven in the 77th over.
Bresnan shared 36 with Matt Fisher before being bowled sweeping at Patel for 47 in the penultimate over of the session. Fisher has 16 and Jack Brooks nought.
