George Dobell at Somerset (177-3) v Middlesex
James Hildreth has just hit Steven Finn for three of the most beautiful boundaries you could ever wish to see. Two of them were cover drives from long half-volleys, the other one a cut – with both feet off the ground – laced through point. He’s on 94.

George Dobell at Somerset (163-3) v Middlesex
Morning from Taunton. The weather is changing here and rain is expected around 2pm. That means Somerset may have to think about accelerating their second innings – not easy on this surface – and setting up a declaration. They now know, at least, that if they win they will be in Division One next season. For Middlesex, life is more complicated. If they lose, they will have an eye on events at Edgbaston and hope Warwickshire can do them a favour. Meanwhile Matt Maynard and Angus Fraser have been deep in conversation this morning. Middlesex are clearly underwhelmed by this surface, though you do wonder what they expected.
