The problem with playing 7 Tests in 10 weeks is that its hard to players to make any changes

Northeast now scoring at less than a run a ball. Drop him.

Yeah bowling sides have found an area to attack with Westley but I don't think its terminal, they sit up their in that comms box pretending they have never seen a legside player score runs

Everyone was saying how great he was against touring sides though Joe. Obviously not quite the same, but you'd expect there to be some correlation.

TV sorted his action then
by NemoUKS9/6/2017 3:27:23 PM
I remember there were some calls for Westley to get into the England squad last year based on the amount of runs he was scoring and the general response was that it was against Division 2 bowling, he's had a good season this year for Essex but international bowling has perhaps found the flaw in his technique that county bowling couldn't

you joke but Ravi did play 171 times for England and was given every chance to succeed in test cricket
by Will Colwell9/6/2017 3:26:03 PM
You wouldn't pick Cook of technique tho, two hours at the Essex nets in 2006 would leave Ravi Bopara playing 200 Tests
by nickcricket9/6/2017 3:25:02 PM
Craig Overton: 4-33 All other seamers in the match: 1-119

@Will Colwell Forgot Essex briefly made it into Division 1 in 2010, well spotted
by Joe Tompkins9/6/2017 3:24:27 PM
Players should be picked based more on technique than pure runs scoring. Westley and Cook (At both ends of the spectrum) are examples of this.

Alastair Cook hadn't played any Div 1 cricket at all until this season, though he broke into the side after scoring 200 against Australia in a tour match

Realistically it makes sense to have a div 1 bias because well, it's div 1. The Northeast situation, however, is ridiculous.

@Jonas_Nisse Tragically, no. He played in the North vs South series and averaged about 90,000. That's been his only high profile 'series'.
