Not sure what the problem is at Notts, had a talented a sides as anyone and haven't really looked like winning a title over the last 5 years. Ok they have lost Hales and JTalyor, can't really count Broad he has been an England regular since they poached him but should still be enough Talent in the side

Massice let off for Borthwick on 53 as he gets an inside edge from a Clarke ball and it misses the stump by a fraction.
How's that carnivorous diet helping your conversation skills Dave? :P

@Nick, there was a good article by the crinifo team this time last season on how Newell had plateaued at Notts. I think he won a few one day trophies early up, but really looking at a) the playing side, b) the playing budget and c) the players they have recruited it is really poor set of returns.

Nice few East Mids derbies next year. Welcome back Notts. Better develop a youth set up, you're not going to be able to pinch everyone else' young guns now.

I'd also argue that Newell hasn;t really brought many young players through recently either. Wood and Hutton look good, but were held back for a long part of the season. they probably wouldn;t be playing if they had been doing slightly better? Probably the same for Moores as well. All in all, what is Newell doing to justify his position? Is it the insider knowledge of being an England selector that benefits Notts that is keeping him there?
I would have thought losing James Taylor at the beginning of the season has had a big impact. Granted he might not have been available loads but no time to find a replacement and when the main person in the dressing room leaves it is tough. Both England (on the pitch) and Notts (off it) have really missed him

dave - Ah, will dig it out. Difficult like you were saying yesterday the county supporter now wants young players brought in but also immediate success.

We lost James Taylor to Notts. Also Broad, Gurney, Smith. They use their test match cash to poach. No sympathy.
