Surrey batsman Jason Roy has displayed shades of Graham Gooch, writes Peter Hayter. The Hype Train is at Full Speed

Jason Roy could hide in the shade created by Gooch when he was in his prime?

I do feel like Willey has to come in for Plunkett or Wood no question. He has not faltered for England and his left arm swing at the start is impressive. He has massively improved on his middle over skills too. Ideally Wood would be kept safe and become interchangeable with Plunkett as the series goes on.

I'm sure Hopps and Dobell know

Biggest let down since Nick Knight left a free hit

And there was I thinking that he that shall not be named was being re-signed for the last three games

I suppose with Davies leaving and Foakes being hinted for an England stint, they need a back-up wicketkeeper?

Bah, what a boring announcement from Surrey.
by Matt Warwick8/26/2016 2:38:36 PM
is that the big announcement? I suppose Surrey promoting from within and not unnecessarily signing someone is fairly big news... it still amazes me how many players they have on their books due to unnecessary signings. they could just use their excellent youth system and they would be fine

petepineapple81 - No reason, safely mid table and even for a club that does like a big name signing it would be difficult to see it as worth the money

Few words to describe Joe Clarke's chances for the winter tour?

I suppose England could see the Yorks/Surrey game as a chance for Willey to prove his fitness for the games later in the series

is Clarke keeping wicket for Worc currently? His batting has come on nicely and worth a lions slot. might be best off 'keeping on a more regular basis though
