Broad's average is 26 this year though? Not exactly awful is it.

@nickcricket And Finn, of course. Who still seems strangely military medium of the time. I think if Footitt was ever going to play for England it would've been last year. He's 30 now, I think.

Broad and Foottit similar age, Broad still getting decent results and the way he has been bowling this summer lots of cutter and changes of pace might well suit India better than trying to bowl outswingers. He will have to try and rediscover that 3 MPH he has lost if he wants to be a treat in Australia next time around

You've got to factor in the first three Tests of the summer Jacob. He still hasn't bowled badly, but it's been 'canny operator' stuff, short-pitched defensive bowling and cutters. Not devastating really.

Fantastic bowling from Footitt, good to see him fit and firing.

Re Broad: The first three tests of the summer were only four tests ago though. Recent enough to be included in his current performances.

On the subject of Broad, he does have a habit of making thing happen and when he does well it can be quite spectacular.
Wonder how that supporter who tried to burst into the Yorkshire changing room to rant about the non follow is feeling now, they also got the notts changing room

By that sort of counting though, we may as well say Root isn't the player he was. Of course you will count of the first three tests, just the way we'd count the last three with Ali. If stats were based on one game, they wouldn't be much good. Plus, with a four man seam attack and a spinner, the benefits of that are that not everyone has to shine to win games. They bail the team out.

The game was over after they obligingly rolled over for 94 in the first innings. They might get a few more second time round but not many by the looks of things.
