How is the rain at Southampton? Any sign that the play will resume soon after lunch?
by Aneesh Kumar9/2/2016 11:46:22 AM
It's stopped raining where I am, but remains very grey.

I suggest Yorks get their collective finger out and try to smash 100 runs in as short a time as possible if we get back on this afternoon, then declare and go at Hants. My only worry would be the possibility of bad light meaning we couldn't bowl our quicks.
by Joe T Williams9/2/2016 11:48:48 AM
Hopefully we can resume soon. Yorks and Hants both need this win dearly. @Joe, in that case, Jack Brooks can still bowl his offspin.

No quicks = Gary Ballance's leg spinners to the rescue
by Robert Stow9/2/2016 11:50:41 AM
They should have sent out Lehmann before Gale, his natural pace is faster than Gale forcing it. Good to see Bally wasn't dropping anchor
by nickcricket9/2/2016 11:50:44 AM
@AneeshKumar Hants couldn't chase down 194 to be honest. Given the rain, I'd say an aggressive declaration of 280-300 lead may be in order. Hants would have to come out and chase it

Ballance, Lyth and Rafiq to the fore!
by Joe T Williams9/2/2016 11:51:07 AM
And if they are to accelerate here, Yorkshire, Ballance and Gale are hardly the batsmen who would do that. Ballance is cautious as his England place is at stake and Gale, well, Gale is Gale.
by Aneesh Kumar9/2/2016 11:51:29 AM
Jake Lehmann can bowl as well. Would be interesting. Yorks are so defensive that they didn't even bother to give the target a go when they played Lancs. I think if one of these players are out, Bresnan would come in and whack some runs.
