That bothers me too: 'The wotsit that defines the title race' or equivalent. Not unless it's a last-wicket catch dropped in the last match with five to win and the Champo hinging on it. Otherwise there's likely to be a later moment that 'defines the title race'. Anyway that run-out definitely wasn't it because apparently Simpson suddenly comes good in tense run-chases.

That's not a bad batting line-up. Bowling (Porter aside) might be where they come unstuck.

Moment that define a season are nonsense, too many to count. Yorkshire's openers deciding to boost their averages rather than chase to the total at Lancs being one I will remember if its tight

Middlesex deserve the title. The amazing win v Yorks away setup by RJ and Murtagh's batting. The phenomenal run chase at Taunton, the unbelievable draw at Lord's v surrey, thanks to bailey and franklin and the win today. I think no one would begrudge them the title.

That run chase at Taunton could be a SEASON DEFINING MOMENT couldn't it?
by NemoUKS9/9/2016 1:54:18 PM
@Yaacov Absolutely, I hope they do it. That Yorkshire are in the hunt given their top order issues, England call ups and bowling injuries is remarkable in itself

Yorkshire probably don't have the best team but they have had 6 different player away at stages this season

I hope that chase doesn't end up being the points difference between Somerset winning the champo. and not, I thought it was a great play by Rogers that was good for the game and it'd be gutting for Sset. to lose it because of that.
by StaggerBreaths9/9/2016 2:00:22 PM
Now then. Harinath is gone to Ervine, bowling his first over of the innings. Keeper up, trotting in, banged in a bit short and that is a very smart take by McManus. Is there life in this game? Davies in, Surrey 62 behind.

McManus does seem to be an excellent keeper, and a potentially handy bat.
by Matt Warwick9/9/2016 2:02:19 PM
Some people are very sour at Rogers for that but I think it was a great declation, you have to give the oppo a chance or they'll just block it out and I think that figure was the perfect balance of being 70% Somerset 30% Middlesex. We jsut didn't bowl well enough.
