If Hales and Vince are good enough for top 6, why not Ansari? Again, he can hardly do worse
by Rich Bake8/15/2016 1:58:47 PM
you'd think they'd go for something like Cook-(OPENER)-Root-(BATSMAN - Borthwick possibly?)-Moeen-Stokes-YJB-Woakes-Rashid-Broad-Anderson, but that's assuming Moeen's kept as a batsman (Bayliss made noises yesterday acknowledging that he's not a first choice spinner)

They think highly of Ansari. He was likely to open in the UAE, but then got a duff thumb.

You could trade Woakes for a spin all rounder I guess
by Rich Bake8/15/2016 1:59:41 PM
And Rob that is exactly what I'd've thought they'd do re. pace. I would really hope they'd put Wood in, I don't think they will.

Think Hales and Ballance might stick around, Gary could use to decent number for Yorkshire before the end of the season

I like the idea of playing moeen as batsman who bowls a little, especially in sub continent,, is good and he could go five? Ansari to open, so Cook, Answari, Root, Balance, Ali, Stokes, Bairstow, Woakes, Rashid, Broad Anderson. When not on spinning pitches wood for Rashid?
by dave8/15/2016 2:00:48 PM
When on spinning pitches Wood for Broad.

Hales has a bit of a rep for being crap against spin. Not great when your next stop is the subcontinent

Broad won't get dropped Staggers :) He didn't get dropped when he was dobbing in after his injury

Hah, I nearly typed 'Ansario', who is in fact the main character in Nintendo's new cricket-themed game.
by StaggerBreaths8/15/2016 2:02:20 PM
Hales now has a reputation for being a bit crap full stop. Not sure the management would drop Broad for Wood at the moment - he has protected status I fear
by dave8/15/2016 2:02:30 PM
Stokes isn't great against spin yet he is in every side

also tbf given they're playing 5 back-to-back tests in the subcontinent (I think the longest gap between tests is a week) there'll almost certainly be some squad rotation, can't imagine the fast bowlers will be able to play all of them
