Ben Stokes will continue his rehabilitation from a calf tear that kept him out of England's last two Tests against Pakistan by appearing for Durham on NatWest T20 Blast Finals Day

About Deebs, man averages 76 this season. It's div. 2 but that's pretty grand. Granted I haven't inspected the statistics closely.

Yeah, I hope so too. Ballance can be found out against high quality fast stuff, something which India do not have.

I think Ballance deserves one more shot, with a top order not putting him straight in the mire. If he flops again though even I would drop him and I'm a fan club member

Ballance should stay for Bangladesh and India, his weakness against quick bowling won't be exposed so he'll do alright. Hales for me should be given anoher go up top, against Pakistan he was poor but for the rest of this year has been decent enough, Vince is on his arse tho, defo gone

Think it will be tough in India, like Ballance got a bit about him also don't think he was "Found out" against place his series. Was a bit unlucky at Lords.

As for DBD, i think its a bit too early for him.. especially against India. That said, Hameed, DBD, Duckett and Abell are going on well.. Test Cricket in three years time for sure.
by Aneesh Kumar8/15/2016 2:20:51 PM
Except Duckett, though, in his case, limited overs cricket
by Aneesh Kumar8/15/2016 2:21:13 PM
Blast, I forgot Hameed in my earlier run-down! Rookie error.

Why not bring Gubbins into the squad as the third opener. He has been doing pretty well. The last left handed Middlesex opener to play for England was not at all shabby :)
by Aneesh Kumar8/15/2016 2:22:20 PM
@Nick Toot toot!
by StaggerBreaths8/15/2016 2:22:49 PM
It just won't be a as funny without Vince
by nickcricket8/15/2016 2:23:32 PM
I'll miss his bowling. Who'll send down overs of medium-paced bouncers now?
by StaggerBreaths8/15/2016 2:24:22 PM
That might actually be the best reason to keep Hales in the team.
by StaggerBreaths8/15/2016 2:24:42 PM
But the tough task for the selectors would be to choose the spinner. India play spin well, Ali is a decent bowler and a handy batsman. Rashid, well, he was selected for the UAE tour and it was a disaster, i think he doesnt have the backing of the selectors. They persist with Vince, Compton, even Finn, but Rashid is not given a chance.

Ballance does a decent comedy bowling option though. Under utilised imo.

Alex Hales! What is this fiendishness?
114.1 Hales to du Plessis, 1 run, A leg-stump half-formed lollipop lob-down, tapped to square leg 114.2 Hales to Amla, no run, raggedly flung onto a loopy teasing length. Get out to that if you dare! 114.3 Hales to Amla, no run, pull the pin next time Halesy! Tossed high above the eyeline and plopping on the crease like a seagull turd. Defended 114.4 Hales to Amla, no run, loopy full toss. His first bad ball. Sort of... 114.5 Hales to Amla, no run, loopy lobby flighty but not very bitey. Blocked 114.6 Hales to Amla, no run, weeeee.... plop. Please, for the love of Test cricket, don't do that again
