Paul Edwards at Lancashire v Yorkshire 184-2
A fine first hour for the White Rose and one free of near things, close shaves and other such embarrassments. Both Andrew Gale and Alex Lees have batted competently on a pitch which people have said will take spin. Well there has been little sign of it, so far, and landmarks have been ticked off: the hundred partnership, Gale's fifty. There have been a couple of big lbw but nothing to frighten the horses. There's a decent crowd at this game and most of them will be hoping that the new ball, which is due but has not been taken, brings a breakthrough.
