dave - Yes and these are guys who have played Test cricket so you would think they would have an insight the man on the street doesn't. Some of the smaller sides do it quite a lot like Sri Lanka and a lesser extent NZ (Guptill) and it has worked on occasions.

@Chris, i am unsure what would excite you if Hildreth does not: a 100 foot chocolate tower, perhaps?
by dave7/11/2016 9:26:05 AM
@dave food porn! now you are talking

India often pick young on talent alone always looking for another superstar so player often don't have much cricket behind them. They are beginning to use A tours a lot more and not sure the selectors trust their FC set up, and that picking on talent has work and not worked for England. Root and Cook are the best examples of it working and other guys like Bairstow the experience he has gained will be helping him now but he wasn't a productive member of the side until his latest return

What an outside guess of Gubbins-having an excellent season so far. Who is going to be the seamer to make the team. Could it be RJ-it's his home ground so why not play him?
by Yaacov7/11/2016 9:32:47 AM
We don't have FC Lions tours though.
by StaggerBreaths7/11/2016 9:32:50 AM
StaggerBreaths - No its odd that we are so keen to play White ball Lions game when you could argue those sides have a squad of 20 guys ready to play while the Red ball team has a opener who is no bad series from being dropped, a new number three, two new/returning players at 4/5 a Keeper who no one is sure is going to keep the role long term, a spinner who is really a batsmen but doesn't bat consistently
by nickcricket7/11/2016 9:35:14 AM
a few years ago didnt we enter a lions team into the west indies domestic competition?
by Chris Hallam7/11/2016 9:35:15 AM
according to cricinfo the Yorkshire squad contains Ballance, Brooks, Sidebottom and Fisher. Interesting!

Surrey are batting after winning the toss
by nickcricket7/11/2016 9:37:38 AM
Really pleased Cosgrove has signed for leicestershire for another 2 seasons
by Chris Hallam7/11/2016 9:39:04 AM
I don't mind of they don't play 4 day Lions matches during the summer because it does leave CC a bit drained but they need to get some sorted for the Winter. When is Jos playing his next red ball match? if he isn't a test
by nickcricket7/11/2016 9:41:05 AM
Don't mind them not playing*
by nickcricket7/11/2016 9:41:31 AM
Yorkshire twitter has put out Surrey's team but not their own must be a secret
by nickcricket7/11/2016 9:42:46 AM
Think Jos would have been playing in a CC match in a week or so but for his thumb.
by Matt Warwick7/11/2016 9:43:31 AM
the lions should tour the same countries the main team plays. Would be easy to organise i would have thought and they can play regional games, a team games in the same formats. best for both countries i would have thought
by Chris Hallam7/11/2016 9:43:34 AM
jury's out on Yorkshire's twitter account since Danny Reuben left tbh.
by impsound7/11/2016 9:44:23 AM
@Chris, that sounds dangerously like common sense. Can the ECB do that?!?
by dave7/11/2016 9:44:47 AM
Matt Warwick - Yes he would have, but England will be trying to get him fit for the ODI series so that chance has gone
