G'morning all. Agreed that it looks thrilling this round. Without wanting to cause PTSD for our cider-drinking contingent, the championship as a whole could do with more Rogers-like declarations.

Middlesex's top line-up now looks like Robson, Gubbins, Compton, Eskinazi?, Malan, Australia du jour, WK, really intimidating tail. That is a very strong batting order (although one of the top six will probably make way for Franklin's surprisingly effective medium pace and surprisingly ineffective batting).
by StaggerBreaths7/18/2016 9:55:05 AM
Perhaps. I'm certainly loathe to kick him for trying as many have. But in this specific case, we were missing our main strike bowler (Joverton) to injury sustained earlier in the game so it does look a little shaky. We'll see if it leads to a rash of sporting declarations.
Which reminds me, I'm supporting Somerset today. C'mon Cider-ers!

I'm also supporting David Hopps for managing to work all the Pokémon references into his match report. Well played KabutHoppsy. (Bet there are some really grumpy comments down the bottom...)

Some people just don't appreciate written artistry.

Hah, called it! Thank you Davidra, you're making my day feel better.

I'm a big fan of both Pokemon and puns but some of them may have been mildly stretching the point :D

@StaggerBreaths I thought that article was brilliant personally. I've still only spotted one Diglett mind, happened to be batting at the County Ground
by Steadman197/18/2016 10:00:51 AM
Does said Diglett keep wicket for Northants in his spare time perchance?

I'm surprised to see that Hales has a commanding lead on Ballance in the poll at the moment. Do we not feel he's earned a couple of series' grace, after the ODIs in SA and the Tests vs. (the admittedly weak) Sri Lanka?

by Steadman197/18/2016 10:04:38 AM
I suppose it's just that GazBaz Mk II (looking similar to Mk I) has only had one test, and even if he doesn't perform he'll get a series or two to prove that
by NemoUKS7/18/2016 10:06:44 AM
I made a rather depressing amount of money betting against the England middle order in the last game (and for a Pakistan win, which was ludicrously long odds)

I've just jinxed him in the article comments! Y'all are welcome.
