Vithushan Ehantharajah at Surrey 574-7 v Hampshire
A first hundred for the season for Ben Foakes comes off 149 balls. It's been a pretty handy acceleration from Foakes, who took 102 balls to get to 53, before embarking on a century partnership with his skipper. It's been a fairly normal Foakes innings: careful, correct. No swipes across the line or charges down the ground. Were the cricketing gods (or his body) to allow it, he'd be a top five batsman – he certainly was without the gloves – and has played as such. Mason Crane currently has figures of three for 181 off his 48 overs: just for a moment it looked like he was being given a rest by Will Smith, who brought himself on to bowl from the Hotel End. As it happens, Crane is now bowling his 49th over from the Pavilion End. The first ball of Smith's over, fizzed down, was dabbed to third man for four by Foakes to bring up 150 for the eighth wicket. For all his faults over the last few weeks, Hampshire could have really done with Tino Best here.
