Essex 415-4 v Derbyshire
Nick Browne and Daniel Lawrence put on 210 for the fourth wicket as Essex piled on the misery for the Derbyshire bowlers.
Both carried on where they left off last night with Browne reaching his maiden double-century and Lawrence eventually departing for his first hundred of the season.
Browne flicked Matt Critchley to deep midwicket to reach 200 off 401 balls with 28 fours.
Lawrence, meanwhile, had scampered a quick single to mid-on off Wayne Madsen to bring up his century from 181 balls with 10 fours.
The 200 stand came up next ball when Browne lofted the South African spinner into the on-side for two. The pair had been together for half of the 123 overs at that point.
Lawrence faced another 16 balls before departing on 116, getting an inside edge to the fifth ball of Chesney Hughes’s first over. It was Derbyshire’s only success of another dispiriting session in the field.
Earlier, Essex had fallen 12 runs short of the 350 target for a fourth batting point, having decided to try and post a big score rather than taking unnecessary risks.

David Hopps at Somerset 532-5 v Yorkshire
Peter Trego has become another member of the mounting 90s club around the country. He fell six runs short of his century, trying to drive Adil Rashid over the offside and edging to the wicketkeeper Andy Hodd.
Trego's innings had been much to the liking of another goodly Taunton crowd - with a scattering of a top-tier hospitality box in the Botham Stand when he drove Adil Rashid straight followed later in the morning session by the first top-tier blow into the new Pavilion, this time of Adam Lyth.
Yorkshire bled 151 runs in the morning and James Hildreth remains to seek to inflict more damage before an anticipated declaration - or dismissal - shortly before tea..
