Jon Culley at Nottinghamshire 178-2 (45) v Warwickshire
After Chris Woakes on Sunday, it is Michael Lumb's turn to take advantage of good fortune. The Notts left-hander is looking in exceptionally good touch and has moved to 73 since being put down without scoring, a chance missed by Tim Ambrose when he dived across first slip as Lumb nicked one from Keith Barker. One or two deliveries from the Pavilion End have kept low and Ambrose was entitled to guess that it would not have carried to slip.
It might be dangerous, of course, to talk up Lumb at this stage as he seeks to end a long stretch without a first-class hundred. The same could have been said of Steven Mullaney, who had just completed a measured half-century and was looking secure when he attempted to flick a ball from Woakes off his pads but ended up giving Ambrose a nice-and-easy catch down the leg side, which is never the way a batsman likes to go. Notts rattled along after lunch, adding 51 off seven overs to their lunch score of 101-7 but have been slowed down since by Rikki Clarke and Chris Wright. Barker is back for another spell but, save for one over before lunch, no sign yet of Jeetan Patel.
