'Swhat I suspected Nemo. (You talking about Broad or Ball there, hard to tell these days. :P ) In which case Balldersfinn would be as Sri Lankan a tail as I suspected.

@StaggerBreaths against a top 4/5 test side I'd agree, the 'deep' lineup tends not to perform. This Sri Lankan side are not top 5, so I'd give one of the young guns a run out, and a taste of test cricket. Rather than playing someone who's failed to grab the opportunities thus far a go, it's the perfect opportunity to bring in a relatively unknown.

There will presumably be a couple of matches where it rains so much that teams can't get any bonus points. It would be interesting to see if there's any with 110 overs and fewer than 3 points scored.

Please lord can Woakes not play any part at Chester Le Street. He's not a good enough bowler. His batting is fine but we can't have an ineffective bowler at CLS
by Steadman195/23/2016 10:04:31 AM
Bit late for that Steadzz, he's pretty much in the team.
by StaggerBreaths5/23/2016 10:05:05 AM
And that is a fair point Storrse, might be good to give them exposure in what might very well be another three-dayer.
by StaggerBreaths5/23/2016 10:05:42 AM
Anyway, Hameed's batting!
by StaggerBreaths5/23/2016 10:05:55 AM
@Beardy_Ed I was thinking of non rain impacted ones, I cannot see how anyone could possibly have accumulated fewer than 3 combined for a full 110 overs! Fingers crossed we see 'history' in the making at Lords!

@StaggerBreaths Sadly it's all I can see happening too. Really silly though. He was god awful in South Africa & although they want another all-rounder, woakes will only deliver slightly with one or the other.
by Steadman195/23/2016 10:06:11 AM
I hope he does well, but I'm afraid Woakes is basically a classic 90s New Botham player. Allround in that he neither scores runs nor takes wickets.
by Beardy_Ed5/23/2016 10:06:35 AM
Imagine he might not have to do too much bowling.
by StaggerBreaths5/23/2016 10:06:55 AM
Ball has a good chance of getting the test final place in place of Woakes
by Tom Mather5/23/2016 10:07:14 AM
@StaggerBreaths I concur on the batting depth, and frankly after Broad's innings vs SL i'd put him no 11 next innings to make a point to him.

First wicket sweepstakes this morning?

Tom Taylor is my guess

Broad's batting strategy has devolved into trying to twat it and get a quick 20-30. That's ok for a tailender I suppose, but it's a waste of his talent.
