- Live Update
Tim Wigmore at Derbyshire 97-4 v Sussex
Shades of Colin Miller. Having bowled a lively spell with the new ball, Ollie Robinson has returned bowling offspin with the new ball, and has promptly snared Billy Goldeman, after an obdurate 49, cutting a ball too close to him. Aided by hove’s floodlights, Sussex need six more wickets to win inside three days.
Durham 477 all out v Nottinghamshire
Scott Borthwick remained unbeaten on 188 as Durham's innings ended, the left-hander having hit 28 fours and one six. There were doubts about whether Brydon Carse would be able to bat because of an injured left foot but in the event he limped around for more than an hour with Keaton Jennings doing his running and wound up making a career-best 47, which were valuable runs indeed, enabling Durham to avoid the follow-on during his stand of 92 with Borthwick.
Inevitably, there will be a lobby urging England to select Borthwick ahead of Nick Compton. He is averaging 74.75 with the bat this season and, of course, reminded us that he can take wickets with his leg spin with a five-for on Sunday. But England have shown no inclination recently to change a winning team and you can see Compton keeping his place at least for the remainder of the series against Sri Lanka.
