Ruthworth dropped by Durham. Injured? Not needed given Stokes and Wood in the team? Longer middle order of batters who can't score more than 20 needed? Or signed by Notts to get them out of Div 2 next year? All plausible.

Morning all, Surrey fan here peering nervously over the trench ... Borthwick could have said no of course, don't they do loyalty up there? Although tbf I'm not sure why we need such a big squad. Patterson's father ill I just heard.

My ideal situation out of this match is that Yorkshire and Middlesex win, with Yorkshire getting one more bonus point than Middlesex: thus putting both teams through into the decider on equal points.
But I'll settle for a max-points Middlesex win I suppose.
