The permutations are many, of course, but a lot of attention will centre on Somerset's batting points today. Matt Maynard was talking about wanting to take some batting points as well as a win from this game to put the pressure on the teams at Lord's - mainly Yorkshire obviously - and when Somerset's first innings is concluded we will know their maximum points haul.
We have only had three overs for heaven's sake and already there is marvellous tension around this ground. There is literally nowhere on the planet that many of these people would wish to be today. One other thought: no one has mentioned Nottinghamshire much when chatting about this game but they have players for whom this is a big game. Billy Root has been picked as has Jake Libby, of course, and the off-spinner, Matt Carter
