Hampshire 84-4 need 298 to beat Yorkshire
Jack Brooks struck three times in 12 balls during the latter stages of the final afternoon to keep Yorkshire’s Specsavers County Championship victory bid alive against Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl, although bad light has forced an early tea.
Hampshire slipped from 50 for one in the 25th over to 74 for four in the 29th in the face of a victory target of 298 in a minimum of 70 overs.
The White Rose have struck four times since lunch, with Hampshire reaching tea at 84 for four from 31.2 overs, with 38.2 remaining.
Ryan Sidebottom had Will Smith lbw playing to leg in the third over of Hampshire’s second innings, leaving the score at eight for one.
Jimmy Adams and Tom Alsop then shared 42 for the second wicket to steady the ship before both falling to Brooks, who has now taken eight wickets in the match.
He had Alsop caught at short-leg, Adams caught at second slip for 30 and then England Test batsman James Vince caught at first slip for 16.
Sean Ervine and Ryan McLaren are the not out batsmen.
